Recently, the launch meeting of the National Key R&D Program project "Research on Precise Collaborative Regulation of Lower Limb Movement Based on Brain-Spinal Cord Interface-Exoskeleton System", applied for and approved under the leadership of Professor Wu Minfei of the Second Hospital of Jilin University as chief scientist, was successfully held at the Yatai Campus of the Second Hospital of Jilin University. The project is led by Jilin University and jointly undertaken with Beijing Institute of Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Aalborg University of Denmark, Beijing Daai Robot Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Brainlink Technology Co., Ltd. Since its approval, the project has received key support and guarantees from Jilin University and the Second Hospital of Jilin University in research policies, platform support and organizational coordination.

The launch meeting was moderated by Professor Wu Minfei, the project's chief scientist. Guo Qing, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Management Office of the Jilin University Institute of Science and Technology, and Xu Tianmin, Vice President of the Second Hospital of Jilin University, attended the meeting. The meeting invited Professor Li Chunyi of Changchun Institute of Technology, Professor Liu Chunbao, Professor Yang Xiaoyu, Professor Lin Quan and Professor Bai Tian of Jilin University, Researcher Ding Jianxun of the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Certified Public Accountant Lei Junjiang of Jilin Yuxin Accounting Firm as project consulting experts. The leaders of each project task, key project members and attending participants all joined the meeting.

In his speech, Guo Qing stated that the university attaches great importance to the development and discipline layout of frontier interdisciplinary fields such as brain-spinal cord interface-exoskeleton systems, and will provide solid guarantees for project implementation in research policies, platform support and organizational coordination. Xu Tianmin congratulated the project approval and emphasized the need to focus on clinical needs, strengthen medical-engineering interdisciplinary collaborative innovation, and pay attention to the implementation and translation of achievements; he also suggested further refining the phased milestone nodes, preventing and controlling research funding management risks, and ensuring the project is delivered with high quality on schedule.

During the project report session, Professor Wu Minfei systematically reported the project's overall goals, research content, technical route and organization and management plan. Professor Lin Yanfei of Beijing Institute of Technology, Professor Yu Yan of Tongji University, Associate Researcher Wang Zhonghan of Jilin University,Professor Cai Zongyuan of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Professor Wei Hui of Beijing University of Chemical Technology respectively introduced the advancement plans and research progress of each task.

During the expert review session, Professor Li Chunyi, Professor Liu Chunbao, Professor Yang Xiaoyu, Professor Lin Quan, Professor Bai Tian, Researcher Ding Jianxun, and Certified Public Accountant Lei Junjiang and other experts conducted in-depth inquiry and full discussion on the project implementation plan and management methods. They unanimously agreed that the project has clear goals and strong innovation, and put forward constructive suggestions on key links such as project positioning and strategic objectives, technical route and task coordination, key technical details, achievement forms and verification systems, and project compliance management.

The holding of this National Key R&D Program project launch meeting marks the project's official entry into the full implementation stage. The project team will focus on the major national needs for functional recovery reconstruction of spinal cord injury patients and the health demands of the people, fully absorb expert opinions, deepen cross-institution and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and condense a "brain-spinal cord interface-exoskeleton collaborative regulation" technical system, providing new technical paths for spinal cord injury patients to restore autonomous functional recovery.
