In July 2026, the 10th World Congress of Biomechanics (WCB 2026) was grandly held in Vancouver, Canada. As the largest and most influential top academic event in the global biomechanics field, the congress was co-hosted by the American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), the Canadian Society of Biomechanics / Société Canadienne de Biomécanique (CSB/SCB) and the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB), attracting more than 3,000 experts, scholars, clinicians, engineers and industrial innovators from six continents to gather together and discuss industry frontiers.
Professor Cai Zongyuan of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, founder of TaoImage Medical, participated in this international stage with the dual-plane X-ray imaging biomechanics overall solution, engaging in in-depth exchanges with the world's top research teams to jointly explore the future development directions of dynamic medical imaging, biomechanical analysis and precise sports medicine.
In recent years, dynamic medical imaging, artificial intelligence, computational modeling and digital twin technologies have been accelerating their convergence, and biomechanics research is undergoing a key transition from "static structural analysis" to "dynamic functional assessment".
TaoImage Medical has long been deeply engaged in the clinical and research application innovation of dual-plane dynamic X-ray technology. Relying on high-precision dynamic image acquisition systems and three-dimensional motion analysis algorithms, it provides precise and reliable data support for human joint motion analysis, injury mechanism research, postoperative functional evaluation and implant performance verification.
As one of the core frontier directions of current international biomechanics research, the dual-plane dynamic imaging technology, with its distinctive value in revealing the true laws of human movement and analyzing complex joint functions, received high attention and recognition from many international experts on site.
TaoImage's digital dual-plane biomechanics laboratory solution, with dynamic dual-plane X-ray imaging as its core, builds a multi-modal synchronized research platform. The system supports up to 100*2 FPS high-speed acquisition on both planes, and with 1ms dynamic pulse eliminates motion blur, achieving sub-millimeter 6-DOF skeletal motion tracking; it adopts a four-column movable architecture, suitable for the neck, hip, knee and ankle, covering standing, weight-bearing and supine multiple-position imaging. The solution can integrate sensors such as force plates, EMG, inertial navigation and motion capture with millisecond-level time synchronization, completing combined analysis of skeletal imaging, neuromuscular and dynamics in a single acquisition. The accompanying software supports multi-format data export and can support research scenarios such as gait, impact loading and complex movement direction changes, providing precise data support for orthopedic clinical practice, biomechanics and sports science.
The scientific program of this WCB 2026 covers 31 professional research tracks, comprehensively covering hot directions in the biomechanics field, among which five frontier sections are particularly eye-catching:
1. Emerging Technologies and Computational Methods
Artificial intelligence, digital twins, computational modeling and big data-driven analysis became the core technological hotspots of this congress. The deep integration of intelligent algorithms and advanced computational methods is reshaping the biomechanics research paradigm and pushing the field toward a more precise and more efficient intelligent stage.
2. Dynamic Imaging and Precise Biomechanical Analysis
This direction centers on dual-plane dynamic X-ray technology, three-dimensional motion capture, joint kinematic analysis, human functional assessment and clinical sports medicine translation, exploring a new model in which human movement upgrades from "static structural observation" to "dynamic functional analysis". This is precisely the core technical field where TaoImage Medical has long been deeply engaged. The dual-plane biomechanics solution exhibited this time is the mature industrial implementation result of this frontier direction and can provide integrated technical support for related research and clinical studies worldwide.
3. Clinical, Rehabilitation and Medical Device Innovation
Related research covers multiple sub-fields such as rehabilitation robots, exoskeleton systems, intelligent medical devices and gait analysis. Biomechanics technology is accelerating its implementation in clinical diagnosis and treatment and rehabilitation scenarios, becoming a key link connecting basic research and clinical application.
4. Musculoskeletal, Sports and Injury Biomechanics
This direction focuses on bone and joint motion mechanisms, sports injury mechanisms, sports performance optimization and clinical translation research in sports medicine, deeply exploring the mechanical laws of the human motor system. It is an important research foundation for sports medicine and orthopedic clinical innovation, and also the core application scenario of dual-plane dynamic imaging technology.
5. Cardiovascular Mechanics and Tissue Engineering
This direction includes frontier fields such as cardiovascular mechanics, regenerative medicine, bioprinting and intelligent implant systems, continuously promoting the deep interdisciplinary integration of life sciences and engineering technology and constantly expanding the application boundaries and innovation possibilities of biomechanics.
WCB 2026 brought together renowned universities, research institutions and medical innovation enterprises. The speakers in various fields came from world-renowned institutions including Mayo Clinic, the University of Virginia, Northwestern University, Imperial College London and ETH Zurich, jointly building a high-level exchange platform with the three major international biomechanics societies ASB, CSB and ESB。
. This participation was an important opportunity for TaoImage Medical to engage in in-depth dialogue with the world's top research forces, and also a vivid practice of Chinese medical technology enterprises deeply integrating into the global biomechanics innovation ecosystem.
In the future, TaoImage Medical will continue to focus on dynamic medical imaging technology, dual-plane biomechanical analysis, precise orthopedic diagnosis and treatment, sports medicine innovation research and clinical research translation, continuously driving technological breakthroughs and letting advanced biomechanics solutions serve global medical innovation and development.
